With the invention of the internet came the opportunity to be able to purchase designs online to download. Which means, we now have embroidery files saved on our computer. This is both wonderful and scary at the same time. This leads to being able to have instant access without having to find a disc or thumb drive to load into the computer and then searching for that one design.
But what happens when there is a malfunction with your computer? Or a virus is spread and wipes out your hard drive? This can lead to your entire embroidery file library being lost and deleted. Then you are left with having to remember where you purchased all those files and having to download them all again. Oh, the headache, time and nightmare!
Why not save yourself the headache and time by regularly backing up your embroidery designs to an external source? There are several ways to do this. You can:
- Purchase an external hard drive and back your designs up regularly
- Subscribe to a cloud service like iCloud or Dropbox.
- Save your designs to a thumb drive
- Burn them to a disk
I personally use Dropbox. My files are continually backed up without me having to schedule it or remember to do it manually. Here is a link where you can sign up and try it out for free:
The peace of mind that comes with knowing all my files are safe is invaluable! Have a peaceful and creative day <3
